Mike Jones
Head Rider & Managing Director
Mike is the founder and head rider of our team. With over 45 years of motorcycling experience, Mike’s journey has taken him across the UK and internationally, both on and off-road.
A former Senior Police Officer, Mike is also an experienced Mountain and Jungle Expedition leader, as well as a Wilderness Medic. His expeditions have led him through the jungles of Central America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Mike’s passion extends beyond adventure—he is a Trustee for a children’s charity in Rwanda, where he has worked for over a decade. His deep connection with Rwanda is evident in his regular motorcycle rides around the country, including multiple journeys along the Congo Nile Trail.
Mike’s goal is to make the Riding Rwanda accessible to global riders, offering them an unforgettable African adventure.

Jean Claude Mudaheranwa
In-Country Guide
Jean Claude, or Claude, is our trusted in-country guide. A native of Rwanda and long-time friend of Mike, Claude is based in Musanze, in northern Rwanda. Fluent in English and several other languages, he has an extensive knowledge of Rwanda and its landscapes.
As an experienced motorcyclist, Claude has completed the Congo Nile Trail numerous times, often riding alongside Mike. Known as Mike's adopted Rwandan son, Claude is a welcoming presence and expert guide for those exploring Rwanda on two wheels.

Patrick Igiraneza
Local Guide
Patrick has known Claude and Mike for many years and used to work with Claude. Like Claude he is a Rwandan National and has an extensive knowledge of Rwanda. He used to live in Karonge on the shore of lake Kivu, near the Congo Nile trail and as such has contacts there should further support be required. Patrick is an enthusiastic Motorcyclist and he is a mechanic by trade. He provides mechanical support for the expeditions, either he will resolve a mechanical issue, or he will have a contact who can.
Gaz Lloyd
Expedition Guide
Gaz has a vast wealth of experience leading jungle expeditions throughout Central America. He is also an instructor of Jungle skills and survival and he brings with him a wealth of knowledge.
Gaz and Mike have been on multiple expeditions in Central America together and share a passion for these activities.
He is a keen motorcyclist and is a valuable addition to any expedition.
Ben Jones
Expedition Guide
One of Mike’s sons. Ben has benefitted from travelling with his Dad on many trips over the years and has gained a huge amount of experience of expeditions in a variety of countries and climates, both as a guide and as a leader. Ben has good orienteering and mechanical skills. Ben has known Claude for many years and has a great working relationship with him and Patrick. This all adds to the family feel of the expedition. He is an experienced motorcyclist and is a veteran of several trips traversing Rwanda and the Congo Nile Trail.
Joe Jones
Expedition Guide
One of Mike's sons. He completed their first Congo Nile trail reconnaissance ride and has completed the trail a number of times since.
He has benefitted from travelling with his Dad in many trips over the years and has gained a huge amount of experience in a variety of countries and climates, both as a guide and a leader. He has know Claude, for many years and has a great working relationship with him. This adds to the family feel of the expedition.
Cliff Street
Expedition Guide
Cliff and Mike have known each other for many years and have similar interests. Cliff has been to Rwanda on many occasions, working together with Mike for the charity and has also completed the Congo Nile trail with Mike, researching the route. He is an ex-professional rugby player and seasoned traveller, having spent time in South America and the Middle East.
